Penge fired a nine-under 63 in the final round of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship to surge into a share of ninth place.
It was a shootout this week at Yas Links GC with everyone going low, but Penge had a very up-and-down week. He made nine bogeys and a double-bogey this week, but also racked up four eagles and 23 birdies. Two of those eagles came on back-to-back holes on the back-nine on Sunday. Penge's rival for the Race to Dubai title this year, Rory McIlroy, also had a huge final round in which he shot a 62 to surge up to T3. Penge lost some ground in the season-long race, but still could take the top spot in the finale, although it would likely take a win to do so.
