Ludvig Aberg Ludvig Aberg
RANK 6 | OWGR 5.61
Aberg carded a one-under 70 in the final round of the RBC Heritage to finish tied for 54th place.
Aberg was never able to get much going at Harbour Town, failing to post a round better than two-under all tournament despite scores being relatively low. He only made 12 birdies across 72 holes and struggled with his iron play, ranking T50 in SG: Approach and T62 in GIR. Aberg continues to be hit-or-miss this year with three top-10s and five results outside the top-40.
Aberg missed the cut by two strokes at the Valero Texas Open after rounds of 71-73.
Aberg will now head into The Masters next week off back-to-back missed cuts. It's certainly not how many thought his season would go after winning The Genesis Invitational in February. Aberg is one of the top betting favorites for The Masters due to his strong ball-striking and the fact he finished second in his first try at Augusta last year, but he will come in having lost strokes on approach in three of his last five starts.
Aberg carded a two-day total of two-over par at The PLAYERS Championship to miss the cut by three strokes.
Following an opening round 71, Aberg struggled to get much going in the second round with three birdies and three double bogeys to miss out on playing the weekend. Although he was in good form off the tee, he lost over two strokes on approach and around the green across the two rounds. Aberg has missed the cut in two of six events this year.
Aberg closed with a four-under 68 on Sunday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational to finish even-par and tied for 22nd.
Aberg strung together five consecutive birdies on the front nine during Sunday's final round, rebounding nicely from a disappointing third-round effort in which he shot a five-over 77 that included five bogeys and a triple. The 25-year-old Swede ultimately finished second among the field at Bay Hill in SG: Off-the-Tee and fifth in driving distance, but he lost 2.1 strokes with his irons and another 3.3 strokes around the greens. Aberg drops from No. 1 to third in the early FedExCup standings, but he'll be in attendance again this week for THE PLAYERS Championship where he placed eighth in his TPC Sawgrass debut last year.
