Brown has withdrawn from THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson and will instead play the Tulum Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour this week, Rob Bolton of PGATour.com reports.
Brown is coming off a strong T2 showing at the Vertix Bank Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour. That finish qualified him for the next KFT event where he sits just 53 points shy of collecting special temporary status. As a non-member Brown is only able to receive four sponsor exemptions on the KFT, and he used the third one last week at Vertix. He'll now get at least two more starts on the KFT with a solid chance with a couple good showings of earning status. The 17-year-old turned pro last December and is looking to find regular starts anywhere. He had made four starts earlier this season on the PGA Tour via sponsor exemptions and had another one lined up at the Byron Nelson this week. This was a hard decision, but the right one for Brown's future.
