Tommy Fleetwood Tommy Fleetwood
RANK 11 | OWGR 3.63
Fleetwood struggled to a nine-over 81 in the final round of the Valero Texas Open to fall into a tie for 62nd place.
Fleetwood just didn't have it on Sunday. He made just two birdies against eight bogeys and a triple-bogey on the par-4 17th. The nightmare final round ended his streak of 15 straight top-25 finishes. His last finish outside the top-25 was a MC at last year's Open Championship. You'd like to think Fleetwood would be able to shake it off after so much strong play over the last several months, but I don't think it's the way he envisioned himself coming into The Masters. Fleetwood is still searching for his first major victory and scored his best career result at The Masters last year when he finished T3.
Fleetwood fired a four-under 68 on Sunday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational to finish four-under and tied for 11th.
Fleetwood racked up five back-nine birdies during Sunday's final round at Bay Hill, where he ultimately gained a collective 4.83 strokes ball striking across all four days. The Englishman has now gained at least 4.9 strokes from tee to green in three consecutive starts dating to the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, placing T11-T5-T22 along the way. Fleetwood will peg it again this week at THE PLAYERS Championship where he's made the cut in six of seven career appearances, most notably posting back-to-back top-10s here in 2018 and 2019.
